Role Based Access Control (RBAC) a national American standard
RBAC LLC provides life cycle management to RBAC.

The RBAC standard describes the user administration based on roles. A role simply is a position or a job description. Based on the job description access to IT-systems is granted or not. On a position change systems are revoked and new applications are granted.

Unfortunately the RBAC standard does not include any Life Cycle Management for Identities, Roles or Privileges. The missing link is the RBAC Methodology providing you the missing pieces: processes and architecture to provide a full Life Cycle Management for all components of the Role Bases Access Control.

For companies with an existing Identity Management environment the RBAC Methodology supplies the “Upgrade Path” to Identity Management with Life Cyle Management or to the upgrade to RBAC in full. The “Upgrade Path”  will keep current achievements while adding new functionality and/or processes.
